Have kids address the question: What are bacteria? Then examine photomicrographs: type into your browser: images for Bacteria electron photomicrograph. They are single-celled organisms that grow and reproduce via cell division in the same manner as usual cells, but they are very tiny and have a very primitive cell structure without compartmentalization of different components. Their detail is only seen under an electron microscope.
