The following article by Kevin Anderson, (based on workshop presented by Prof. Rosemary Russ of UW-Madison) describes how some kids ” hide incomplete understanding behind vocabulary words and memorized definitions”.  It goes on to described how to question more deeply to ascertain if kids have a real understanding of the phenomenon; or, if they don’t, the further Q and A will develop that understanding.  I think it is worth consideration. Please share your thoughts/experience.  https://wisdpiscience.blogspot.com/2019/04/students-using-proper-science.html
