Muscles attached across a joint enable movement

      The concept of movement being accomplished by contraction of different muscles attached across a joint is the same for arthropods as for animals with internal skeletons. In arthropods muscles are attached inside the hollow exoskeleton. The following simplified diagrams contrast the two cases. Decipher  how internal muscles of an exoskeleton cause movement.
