Giving kids an understanding of what causes the yearly seasonal changes is best done by modeling the situation with a globe of the Earth and a lamp representing the sun as described in the text. The following video may be helpful in your preparation for the lesson.
At following site you will be able to pull up a table giving you the precise day-length (or night-length) occurring at any given location for any day of the year.

Kids can use this for making comparisons between seasonal conditions at their location and any other location in the world.
