A necessary part of a flowering plant’s life cycle is pollination, getting the pollen (sperm) from the anthers of one flower to the ovaries (eggs) of another flower of the same species. We find that the flowers of many plants are specifically adapted to be pollenated by a particular kind of insect or other animal, e.g., bird, or bat. Have kids watch the following video and discuss adaptations of the plant’s flower for a particular pollinator, and the pollinators adaptations for a specific kind of flower. Please post questions kids ask.
