Type into your browser: leaf stomata images
Under a microscope, the under surface of a leaf is seen to have numerous mouth-like openings (stomata) which allow the diffusion of carbon dioxide into and oxygen out of the leaf. Note that stomata are not simple pores; they are specific structures actually capable of opening and closing.
