A flame’s consumption of oxygen–demonstration

      Air being a mixture of mostly oxygen and nitrogen is commonly demonstrated as shown in the following video. The fact that candles go out demonstrates that a flame depends on consuming air (oxygen). The fact that the candles  go out quickly shows that air far from pure oxygen; about 4/5 of air is another gas, nitrogen. The video explains other aspects of this demonstration.
